POTW – FAQ Special

Now, because your weekly dose of Picks Of The Week will be a little late this week (Tuesday rather than Saturday), I thought I’d give you an FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) special and more of an insight on POTW. Here are some popular questions you guys have been asking me on the site, the forums, Facebook, or other sites…

Q. How do you choose levels for POTW?
A. Normally I just use the Cool Pages and see what’s hot there. Another useful menu to look at is ‘Highest rated this week’ in the ‘more’ section of the community. I rarely choose levels that are Mm Picked because they are normally about a month old meaning it can’t be a pick of the WEEK.

Q. How do you decide if a level is good enough?
A. Normally I can tell at first glance whether it will be an entry or not depending on the overall quality of the level. But the hard bit for you is to try to get your level in a category, harder still, the most prestigious category, Special Recognition.

Q. How did you decide on your categories?
A. When POTW first started, I already had 3 categories, they were the best, the most unique, and the level I want more of. After asking around on the forum a bit for suggestions, EatMyDst (a great help on the forums) suggested a category, the most artistic. I then came up with Special Recognition for levels which really stand out from the crowd and are clear winners. Get yourself in this category and you can call yourself a LBP king. Only the best of the best get in here.

Q. How can I get my level featured in POTW?
A. Make sure your level is fun to play/watch for a start. If you think your level or someone elses level is very under rated and has a little amount of plays, you can let me know on Picks Of The Week official Facebook page!

Q. Who’s your favourite LBP creator?
A. Oh gosh there’s so many! I used to really like Ima_Taka but I think he’s gone downhill a bit in LBP2. Lauraab29 & Christiandadrum have great talent too. I love Poms and I’m recently starting to grow fond of Rialrees for his comedy. I love MuddledMuppet too! Oh and I can’t wait to Steve_big_guns has got up his big guns because he hasn’t made a level for a while…

Q. What’s your favourite LBP level?
A. In the first LBP it would’ve been the original Bora Bora Island by Ima_Taka. My overall favourite though without a doubt is Magnetic Fields by Poms.

Q. Techsplitters co-hosted POTW once, how can I?
A. Just talk to me! Techsplitters always comments on POTW and talks about it so do the same and you could get yourself an invite.
