Hello Sackfolks! After many, many hours/days/weeks… months? I can’t remember
Point is, the sequel to Going Up: Crazy Wheels is now out! I’m so happy to finally share this level with you all. It’s another collaboration between myself and Cstrfrk. This time we worked on one of my levels and while I slaved away on gameplay and story, Cstrfrk spruced up the place and helped me test the plants out of it!
It’s worth noting that the whole level was made using exclusively the original game’s content (except for global lighting and water). In other words every sticker, every material, every character you see is made straight out of the original box. It was a fun challenge to respect and I think it’s cool to remind ourselves what can be accomplished with the bare minimums of LBP!
Level Description: “Grab on tight once more and reach the top of this mystical forest! Meet a couple of weirdos along the way and try to get the high score! Featuring the flinging gameplay that made the first Going Up so popular. Thanks to Cstrfrk for his awesome help!”
Finally, here’s a handy trailer with a feature from LBP2: Voiceovers
Remember, if you want to play it, you can do an in-game search for @KAPBAM, which will bring you to my levels. Enjoy!
PS: For all you over-achievers: There are many secret locations and tough places to get to in this level. If you can manage to find them all and can string point bubbles to get combos, you could get a wicked high score! I cheated and went through it with a jet pack on my moon and I got a score of 21 500 points. Think you can beat that?

” If you like jump and grab platforming, is this the level for you! you’d think one basic form of platforming repeated throughout a level can become boring real fast, but this level is so much fun. the varying speeds and being flung about is such a rush. especially when you let go at the “wrong” time and it takes you on a ride of your life. there are lots of fun little surprises along the way, a few wacky characters.
My favorite part has to be using the force of each fling to take you off the beaten path. it’s sort of exploration while being hurled in mid air. hidden areas abound, and it’s so satisfying to make unexpected discoveries. there is one area i can see, i can taste, but i’ve missed it by a toenail a few times. damn! that’s why i need to get back to this level asap. sometimes you come upon things and the rewards are dropped in your lap. sometimes you stumble upon surprises and you get a glimpse, and it’s up to you to be able to first figure out how to get there, then let go just at the right time to get to what’s just seemingly out of your grasp.
To top it all off it’s a very pretty level too. lots of sounds, movement and activity. like eyes that stare at you from the shadows and then disappear when you get too close… but the best part is the rush of being up in the air so much, of grabbing and releasing just at the right moment. lots of hidden score and prize bubbles. all of it adds up to a level that is highly addictive.”
