About Us

Alright let’s get this out of the way, my name is basically the words Coaster Freak without the vowels.  I’ve used this name on the internet for as long as I can remember because I’m an avid roller coaster fan.  Living in Ohio, I’ve been lucky enough to have Cedar Point just 45 minutes away.  If you don’t know, Cedar Point is the coaster capital of the world   They’ve got 17 coasters there and yeah, most are pretty sweet.

Anyway, I’m a 34 year old graphic artist living in Cleveland with a passion for creativity of mostly any kind.  Of course LittleBigPlanet is up there on the list of things I love but I also love photography, writing, graphic design, technology and pretty much anything else involving the right side of my brain.  I registered this domain name back in 2008 just before LBP launched and before even owning a PS3.  Seeing the potential of this game, I did everything I could to get a PS3 and started this fansite as a news portal and a way to share my crazy excitement.  Since then the site has been converted to blog format, community forums have been installed and it seems to be growing in popularity.  Being mentioned on the official Playstation blog it seems to have gained a spot amongst the top fansites out there.  It’s never really been a goal of mine to be the most popular fansite out there.  As long as it’s a place that the community enjoys visiting and finding the latest news, then it’s all good.

If you own the Game of the Year Edition of LittleBigPlanet, then you’ve most likely seen my level PANDAmonium on there as part of the exclusive content.  I was contacted by SCEE to help contribute and create a new level for this new edition of LBP, and of course I accepted.  I also have another level that is listed in the Media Molecule picks which is also quite an honor.  You can check that out here.

I guess I’m your typical artist.  Unorganized, scatter brained, horrible at Math and oh, I love cake. (I mean who doesn’t really).

My name has a bit of a story behind it but it’s basically the merging of two names into one. The first part – Kap – is the 3 first letters of my last name. I chose it as my pen name for drawings and paintings back in my teens and it also became my nickname in College. The second part – BAM – comes from the player name my best friend at the time and I chose in Burnout Revenge, one of my all time favorite games to this date. We had called ourselves B@MβÀm, i.e. Bamm-Bamm from the Flintstones. I tried BAMBAM on the Playstation Network, but it was already taken, and so was born the name Kapbam! And it’s in caps because I didn’t know any better

Now that that’s out of the way, I am a 28 year old flight director and I’ve been an artist on the side all my life. I learned Photoshop in school and never stopped using it. I also enjoy photography and I’ve recently rediscovered how fun doodling is! Other than art, I’m a technology and nature geek. That may sound like an oxymoron but there’s no greater way to live than to find the perfect balance of the two in my opinion. I love games, other than LittleBigPlanet I’m a huge fan of both the Assassin’s Creed and Devil May Cry series. And when it comes to the great outdoors, I love kayaking, parkour and just plain being outside!
